Since being founded in 2004, Peruvian soccer club Universidad San Martín de Porres has catapulted itself into perennial championship contention. After back-to-back 2nd Place finishes in 2004 and 2005, the team went on to win its first national title in 2007, defeating Cienciano 2-1 in Cuzco. They followed their phenomenal ascension up the ranks with another championship year in 2008.
