Founded in 1891, Swedish hockey team Allmanna Idrottsklubben (AIK) is based in Solna, north of Stockholm. In the team’s 86-year history, AIK has played 66 seasons in Sweden’s top league and has won seven championships. Currently, the team is competing in Sweden’s top league. In November 2009, AIK was asked to join the Kontinental Hockey League to become a member of the League’s Championship for the 2010-2011 season.
