FC Spartak - Moscow

Soccer

source

Founded by a trade union in 1922 – a time when government agencies were forming their own football clubs – Spartak was created to be “the people’s team.” Named after Spartacus, the legendary gladiator-slave who led a rebellion against the Roman Empire, the team has always played with a ferocity befitting of a warrior. Though Russia’s landscape has changed drastically over the last century, Spartak has persevered as a team of the people – and one of the most successful teams in the country’s history.
